using the vw on the final mix

What style/instrumentation are you applying it to? There's no one direction for everything...

OK - I'll ask again....mixdown of what? Thrash Metal? Acoustic Pop? Bluegrass? Techno? Klezmer? You're going to have different settings for different types of music.

Now, here's my favourite for l/r out used with no other compression/limiting and no other "warming" device.

Adjust "Drive" to the strength of your signal and "Speed" and "Release" to the rythm of your song.

Also listen to the amount of compression while turning the "Knee" knob. Somewhere above 10 the compression gets rather heavy for l/r out.

Sometimes I also vary the low/high frequency values to fit the material processed, the values in the dump is used quite frequently on my matierial.

Happy warming!

I would also suggest to try some settings with heavier Knee settings and greater Speed and Release multipliers but with reduced Mix to about 30-70%. That would provide dense sound wihtout killing peaks.

Regards,

Maybe you can point me int he right direction if trying tomaster hip hop, with big low end, and not killing the transients...whilst getting anice warm fat round sound?
