I think somebody should make a plug in which simulates the 12 bit effect of that classic old drum sampler the SP1200. The gear is still revered in hip hop circles for it's sound.

Apparently mono samples could be tuned "pitchshifted" up and down by a slider but the process was unlike the way its done in modern samplers and I think it's this process that people are in love with.

How about a plugin simulation?!

But an SP1200 emulation would be very cool,
and would probably sell well too looking
at the prices that SP1200's fetch on ebay.
