ever heard of M/S tweaking to widen stereo image.
insert an stereo<->M/S plugin (there is one built into logic pro)into a stereo channel,
followed by a plugin with pan (gain plugin in logic e.g.)
followed by another stereo<->M/S plug
then play around with the pan (the second plug) and have fun
there are lots of other options, with the m/s (mid-side) signal
- compress the side signal (right channel) a little bit
- add a small amount of mono->stereo reverb to a mono-signal, make it m/s and play with eq on the side signal before you convert it back to stereo.
