cubase windows vst render or realtime mix down? - 03/21/12 05:57 PM

Hello: In cubase when doing a audio export. Is it critical that the export be performed in realtime or can I render it?

from the cubase manual:
If you activate Realtime Export, the export will happen
in realtime, i.e. the process will take the same time as regular
playback.
Some VST plug-ins, external instruments and effects require this in order
to have enough time to update correctly during the mixdown – consult
the plug-in manufacturers if uncertain
.
basically at times when using the compressor with other plug ins I occasionaly get cpu errors- alothough my CPU is at 10 percent! Some sort of interenal issue in Cubase. So when this happens I ussually render the file. is that ok?? or must the compressor always process the file in realtime??
